As all bean cultures the red lentil is rich with vegetable protein, vitamins and minerals and therefore it’s a basis of food for vegetarians. Indians often mix it with rice and spices like curry, saffron etc.

The taste of red lentil is shaded well by onions, garlic, ginger, thyme, marjoram and the mint, a traditional bay leaf and black pepper.
